NEW AREA 9 CHAIR NEEDED!

Hollywood Hills West Neighborhood Council
is seeking a new Area 9 Committee Chair

Our committees consist of an Executive Committee, 9 issue related committees and 9 geographic area committees (see our HHWNC structure and Committee page for more information). All Board positions are on a volunteer basis.

Area 9 covers Briar Summit, Woodrow Wilson, Mulholland Drive. For a visual map representation, go to the Find Your Area page.

Per our Bylaws, any Stakeholder interested in filling a vacant seat on the Board of Directors shall submit a written application(s) to the President (Anastasia Mann). The President shall then ensure that the matter is placed on the agenda for the next regular meeting of the Board. Please send email to the President of your interest to apply to become a candidate for this position.

In the case of being an Area Chair, you must be a Stakeholder within the geographic area boundaries of the area you wish to be chair. Area 9 in this case. We can take nominations for 60 days from the date of this posting (01/09/12) and the new Area 9 Chair will be elected at the HHWNC Board of Directors Meeting the 3rd Wednesday in March 2012. (3/21/2012).

If only one Stakeholder has made application for a vacant seat (after 60 days notice), then a vote of the Board shall be taken and the applicant installed by majority vote of the Board. If more than one Stakeholder has made application for an empty seat, then an open and fair vote shall be taken at the next regular meeting (with 60 days notice posting) by all Stakeholders present. The vote shall be presided over by the Board of Directors and shall include one vote per Stakeholder.

The Area 9 Committee Chair shall:

  • Preside over the Area 9 Committee meetings;
  • Be responsible for preparing the committee's meeting agendas and providing the Board Secretary with the notice of each meeting and its agenda, place and time*;
  • Insure that minutes of the meeting are prepared and are sent to the Secretary within twenty (20) days of the committee meetings;
  • Present the majority position of the committee and be its spokesperson at Board Meetings;
  • Insure that the committee membership is representative of stakeholders;
  • Promote committee participation.
  • Notice & conduct all meetings per the requirements of the Ralph M. Brown Act
  • Be a Stakeholder within the Area 9 geographic boundaries

*If you are computer literate, as an Area Committee Chair, you will have access to the backend of this website with special access code information so that you can schedule your meetings and have them display on the homepage, the Area 9 Committee page and the Committees page. You will also have the ability to post meeting agendas, approved minutes when ready and send email blasts to those that have signed up to receive Area 9 emails. You will be given instructions on all the online capabilities you will have after becoming Chair.

*Stakeholder defined: The term "stakeholder" means anyone who lives, works, owns property, or is a member of a volunteer or religious organization within the recognized boundaries of the HHWNC. And for Area Committee Chairs, the meaning extends to mean being a resident or active within the HHWNC Boundaries and also within the geographic area of the Area Committee (i.e. 1 through 9) that you are applying for.
