LAPD & LAFD Safe Summer Tip-off Youth Basketball Event
Saturday, June 12th, 2010
On Saturday, June 12th, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) will kick off the summer by hosting the 2010 LAPD & LAFD Safe Summer Tip-off Youth Basketball Event. It is anticipated that 1,000 children and their families will attend this special event which will be held at the Los Angeles Sports Arena.
The 2010 LAPD & LAFD Safe Summer Tip-off Youth Basketball Event will provide an exciting opportunity to bring young people together in a positive and safe setting, as well as address some of the challenges they face in their community. Basketball players from both Department’s will be on hand to mentor attendees and discuss the importance of staying physically active, being involved in their community and inspire them to make contributions to their neighborhoods. The event will also feature positive role models, celebrities, entertainment, complimentary lunch, activities to build unity among youth, and educational opportunities to learn more about the LAPD and LAFD.
